Andrea Sanchez

is a Connecticut self-taught artist with a passion for expression and honoring her ancestral culture in the Caribbean. Andrea was born in Hartford, CT to her parents, José C. Sanchez and Georgina Gonzalez. Her father was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, and grew up in Hatillo. Her mother is Hartford-born and lived in Comerio, Puerto Rico, where her family is from. Although Andrea has always lived in Connecticut, her visits to Puerto Rico and her interest in her culture have always been her passion. Her paintings often depict a personal expression with an aim for a collective experience. Andrea started painting in 2018 as a healing hobby and by 2023, she became a full-time artist. Her works can be seen on murals throughout the Hartford region, as well as in galleries and collective spaces in New Haven, Manchester, Danbury, Woodbridge, and now, TheaterWorks Hartford.

Her motto “Wet Your Brush and Keep Going” is a saying she often mentions as a reminder to trust in yourself and move forward.
